About The Street-Wise Success Program
The Street-Wise Success programs began with the Streetwise Self-Defense Program created by Terry Bryan's instructor, Kyoshi Jim Mather. This comprehensive self-defense program was based on 5 key principles - Anticipation, Recognition, Negotiation, Evasion and Response. While most self-defense programs were teaching physical techniques, Kyoshi Mather created a principle-based system that enabled the students to use their most powerful weapon - the mind.
This program was the foundation to the current Street-Wise Success Programs being taught through our nonprofit organization today. Our current programs are based on 14 key principles, which create a foundation for success in all areas of ones lives. Currently Street-Wise Success is approved through the Colorado Department of Education and is being taught as an accredited course in many area high schools and after-school programs. In addition to its many martial arts related on-going programs being taught through the American Black Belt Academy, courses and seminars are held throughout the region on a variety of areas including:
- Street-Wise Self-Defense
- Street-Wise Principles Of Success
- Street-Wise Goal Setting
- Street-Wise Legal Self-Defense
- Street-Wise Financial Self-Defense
- Street-Wise Real Estate Solutions

Currently the American Black Belt Academy has programs around the country and in Colorado teaches accredited Streetwise programs in School District 11 and School District 20 in Colorado Springs. The ABBA martial arts classes teach much more than kicking and punching. We teach life skills. The ABBA mission statement is "Making a difference, by empowering our students to significantly increase their human performance capabilities through classical martial arts training and success principles education." |
